These are a few vases from my collection of matte white vintage pottery. I wanted to name my blog after them because they are beautiful, simple, and useful. This pottery was made in the first half of the nineteenth century by companies like McCoy, Bauer and Haeger and features a specific matte white glaze (though other beautiful colors & finishes are available). Not all of the pieces were signed so it is worth getting familiar with the way the glazes and bottoms look as well as well as how these vases feel in your hand and "ring" when tapped. Careful scouring of flea markets, antique and thrift shops and garage sales can easily land a vase for under $10 US. Nicer examples in a good antique store can be a bit more, however a good collection looks nice with a mix of simple and ornate pieces.

These are lovely -- the shapes are so unique. I've never seen ones like these before. Great find!
