After carefully considering the lengthy list of redecorating projects available to tackle, I chose to start with the master suite. This is convenient for two reasons - first, the bathroom is already torn up - in the middle of a lengthy remodel and there's still plenty of time to pick colors! Second, my last attempt to primp up the bedroom left it as dark as a cave. My plan for the bedroom? Mercilessly white! Ok, maybe some pale pale shades of cream and gray can come for the ride. Did you know the Scandinavians paint their rooms white because they have long dreary winters just like here in Seattle? I am excited to see if it helps

I was pleasantly surprised by this bedroom at
Ikea (the 2010 catalog is out). This room has some similarities to mine in size and orientation of the window.

I like how the plants really pop against the white decor. It keeps everything very fresh. And given our gray days, it would be nice to have a room that just needs light (not sunlight) to really glow.
